Spring Sunlight, Angus. Oil on board. 56x44cm. £1795

This painting of the Quharity Burn was executed mainly with a stick rather than a paint brush ! In trying to capture the sunlight sparkling on the bustling surface of the stream, I`ve found that a broad and direct method of paint application is quickest and most effective. One could meticulously render each individual point of light with a fine brush but I think the end result would look laborious.
I hope that this painting evokes the wonderful freshness of an afternoon in early Spring. It is currently on show at Greens and Blues Gallery, North Berwick.
