"Winter Light in Glenogil"

45x33cm. Oil on board. SOLD
If you are familiar with my work then you will know about my passion for painting light. This scene exemplifies this - although it is strange to reflect that in striving to create the illusion of sunlight in a painting, most of the work is done in rendering the dark bits, ie. the shadows. In the initial stages of this picture the dark areas begin life as fairly dull and monochrome. As the work progresses however, I have the realisation that these shadows are actually full of colour. Reds and greens, perhaps these colours are not perceptible in reality but their inclusion animates the scene.
