"The Kinnordy Track in Winter"

Oil on Board. 20x45cm. SOLD
I`ve "sat" on this image for nearly a full year (this was Winter 2016/17) but I`m glad I took the plunge with the painting; I think it has turned out well. The influence of McIntosh Patrick is much in evidence here. He probably would have approved of the strong tree shape on the right and the device of the track leading the viewer into the painting, towards the landscape in the distance. The remnant snow on the track adds greatly to the look and feel of the painting. The ground directly under the viewers feet is an important aspect in many of my pictures.
I began a small sketch of this picture (now on show at Greens and Blues Gallery, North Berwick) but confident of it`s compositional merits I immediately began the much larger version shown here.
