"A Highlander at Kinnordy".

Oil on board. 42 x 36cm. SOLD
There is a current vogue for paintings of "Heiland Coos". Not to be out-done, this is my attempt at the genre. It`s customary for the artist to name his or her "Coo" either Tam, or Hamish, or Struan but this one goes by the name of Geltrude (unfortunate indeed as closer inspection revealsl to the viewer that this particular beast is a bloke !) .
I`m always looking for new subject matter to paint and a mini-series of bovines is pending. Here the emphasis shifts from the landscape to an object within a landscape. Nonetheless the real subject matter of these paintings will be light and shadow, form, texture and colour.
