It`s difficult to know when to stop working on a painting. I said to a friend of mine that this piece makes me look like "one of those confident, sketchy artists" ! Indeed there is a light touch here. The Sun`s reflection on the river was an easy enough effect to capture with a few marks; the peril to be avoided here was adding too much unimportant detail.
Gairloch is constituted of a string of townships on the wild coastal fringe of Wester Ross.The woods here are as an oasis, fringing the river just before it meets the sea at Gairloch`s tranquil harbour.
