"Autumn Light, Caddam Wood".

Oil on board. 60 x 45 cm.
Here`s one of the paintings you can see in my exhibition at Eduardo Alessandro Studios, Broughty Ferry (starting Saturday 12th September 2020). The exhibition is entitled 30 years/30 paintings - a picture for each year since my graduation from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 1990.
This 2020 painting of one of my erstwhile haunts near Kirriemuir, Angus will be featuring in the Broughty Ferry show and is, I feel a good example of a painting which uses extensive dark tones to give a feeling of light. There are one or two exciting moments of colour in this piece, with intense cobalt blue touches making an unexpected appearance in a painting which is mostly themed on autumnal, browns and golds.
I might as well blow my own trumpet here; this painting has won a couple of awards; The TALP Open 2020 Artist`s Exhibition Award and the Colart Windsor & Newton Award. You can see a feature about 'Autumn Light, Caddam Wood' in October`s issue of 'The Artist' magazine.
